Help
Getting started
- Make a class: tap New class and paste your names, one per line.
- Take attendance: open the class and tap anyone who's out today. Attendance resets the next morning, unless you switch on Keep attendance for tomorrow.
- Make groups: tap Make groups, choose people per group (or a number of groups), then Shuffle.
- Show the class: tap Show on board for a big, projector-friendly view. Private notes never appear there.
Questions
How do I move a student to another group?
Tap their name and pick a group. You can also drag: on iPhone and iPad, press and hold a name, then drop it on a group to move it or on another name to swap the two. On a computer, just drag with the mouse.
Where are my classes saved?
Only on the device and browser where you made them. Nothing is uploaded, which keeps student names private. See our privacy policy.
My class disappeared. What happened?
Classes stay with the device, the browser and the address you used. If you open FairTables on a different device or browser, or your browser's data was cleared, your classes won't be there. On the web, always use app.fairtables.com.
How do I delete a class?
Open the class, tap Edit, then Delete class at the bottom of the student list. Its saved sets are deleted too.
Can I keep certain students apart?
Yes. Open a student's details to add private notes, including who they should be kept apart from. Shuffles follow these notes, and they never show on group cards or the board.
Does it cost anything?
No. FairTables is free, and nothing is locked.
